Setting up Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) for Twitch

Twitch 2FA

Hi Twitch Community!

Recently I’ve seen lot’s of reports in the Support feed and on the /r/twitch subreddit of users accounts being compromised. Unfortunately the people who got into their accounts then engaged in behaviour that caused the account to be suspended.
I was targetted too, someone tried to access my account. Fortunately I use Two-Factor Authentication, so they failed.

Here’s how you activate Two-Factor Authentication on your Twitch account, so that this does not happen to you.

You will then be prompted to install the Authy mobile app. You don’t have to do this but it could save some money as you won’t be charged for the message. When you next log into your Twitch account you will then have to enter a code sent your phone via text message. If you have the Authy app, you will just have open the app up and enter the code from there.

It takes less than 5 minutes to activate Two-Factor Authentication and it increases your security inimitably. It makes your account almost completely secure, as someone would need access to your phone to get the code even if they had your password!

Check out Authy.
